The Royal Textile Academy of Bhutan was instituted in May 2005 under the patronage of Her Majesty Gyalyum (Queen Mother) Sangay Choden Wangchuck as a non-government, non-profit organization. Her Majesty inaugurated the exhibition on 29/12/2021 at the museum.
BAOWE had the opportunity of visiting the Royal Textile Museum on 31st December, 2021 and ended the year on a special note. The exhibition showcased at the museum was titled “Hingtham-Weaving from the Heart”, which pays tribute to all the women who have been practising and preserving the art of weaving. The exhibited products are all created using only local materials. The exhibition was especially important to BAOWE as it closely follows our goals and plans, and also inspires us to work harder to empower our local communities.
