Damchae Dem completed Secondary High school from St.Helens Convent, Kurseong, Darjeeling. In 2006 she pioneered Steel manufacturing in Bhutan. Her company  Pelden Enterprise Limited (www.peldenenterprise.com) manufactures Ferro alloys and is FDI partner with GIC- RE in the Reinsurance Business.

Her passion however is Bhutan Association of Women Entrepreneurs (www.baowe.org) which she founded in 2010 with the aim to reach out and help marginalized women and unemployed youth discover their entrepreneurial skills. What motivated her were the early days of hardship which prompted her to make and sell potato chips. She believes society’s biggest failure is poverty with the solution too being society a loving compassionate one, together looking for solutions enabling people to live with hope and dignity.
